1	SUCCESSFUL NOTE TAKING AND OUTLINING Note taking, good note taking, may be the difference between passing and failing!
2	Note taking is a skill – it must be learned! Note taking should reconstruct what’s been given…in your own words! Effective note taking requires active listening! Note taking is not dictation.
3	Listening is the bridge between the instructor and the student. L=lead; be prepared I=ideas S=summarize T=talk; be an active learner E=end; go all the way to the end of class N=notes
4	THINGS TO DO: Sleep and eat Go to class Read the material before class Sit up towards the front of the class Get to know some “serious” students Copy everything that’s on the board Have a positive attitude Review the previous day’s material Listen/concentrate

7	A good attitude is what is needed to be a successful student! Students who want good grades must be willing to work for them…to earn them.
