Instructional Design
David Penrose, the Manager of Online Services and Senior Instructional Designer is responsible for coordinating the development and revision of online courses with the Dean of the School of Extended Learning. It is his responsibility to create and implement a process for identifying individual courses and programs across all schools at SJC.
Online Student Support Coordination
Marty Hill, the Coordinator for Online Student Support, has taken responsiblity of being SJC's "Guide on the Side" for potential and current online students. She will oversee usability and accessibility issues, as well as be actively involved in online program development in the area of student support. Marty is tasked with monitoring an online readiness assessment, helping students prepare for online learning, provide guidance in creating a student centered online presence, and creating online academic support mechanisms. She will also assist in a secondary role with online faculty support.
Course Management System Coordination and Faculty Support
Sam Bachert, the Course Management System and Faculty Support Coordinator is responsible for online faculty support. He will for overseeing the usability of San Juan College's Learning Management System. Sam monitors the use of the ANGEL Learning Management System and recommends improvements and modifications. Additionally, he serves on assigned course design teams as an instructional designer/developer. Sam also helps users get the maximum functionality out of ANGEL through faculty and instructional staff consultations and training.
Interactive Media Design
Curt Rogers, our Interactive Media Designer is responsible for creating flash animations which will be used in online courses and other projects. Additionally, he is actively involved in making sure that the latest 3D development tools and online learning environments are exploited to create visually stimulating and engaging interactive learning experiences. This new service greatly expands the potential for online services to set a standard not easily replicated in higher education.
