Commercial Driver’s License Programs—CDL

These programs provide the training and skills for individuals to pass the three-part CDL Exam. Students learn in the classroom, practice hands-on driving on our training course and on the highway. They receive instruction on such topics as Tanker, Doubles/Triples and Hazmat endorsements as well as hours of service, weight and balance, and vehicle out of service regulations.  CDL program trainees will receive a Certificate of Completion, a Forklift Training card and an Air Brake Training card that will be issued upon successful completion of those elements of the CDL Program. 8 Weeks / 280 Hours

Students train at the Kutz Training Facility and School of Energy classrooms. Eight Class A trucks and three Class B trucks are available for students.

SJC CDL SimulatorWe also have a CDL Driving simulator to help our students with their training. The simulator can and is used by local companies for refresher traing to meet insurance requirements. The simulator is a mobile unit that can be taken to other locations and has a generator to power it when taken to off campus locations. 

Prerequisites:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • 18 years of age
  • Pass DOT Physical and DOT Drug Screen
  • Authorize a two-year background check
  • New Mexico and Colorado Residents only 

Tuition:

The tuition for the Class A CDL Truck Driving Program at the San Juan College School of Energy is $735.00 for New Mexico residents (minimum one year residency) and $855.00 for out of state students. Please call School of Energy for program requirements and additional information (505) 327-5705.


Note:  Refresher and Upgrade classes are scheduled on an arranged basis.
