Meet the Staff

Ken Kernagis, Director of Advising and Counseling Center, M.A., L.P.C.C., #0105601
Ken has a master's degree in Counseling and a B.A. degree in Sociology from Western State College of Colorado. He is a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor with the State of New Mexico. He enjoys working with students who are brand new to the college experience and those exploring various career options. Ken is a level II EMDR therapist.

 

Jackie McFarland, Coordinator of Disability Services, Counselor/Academic Advisor, M.Ed., L.PC.C., #104461
Jackie is a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and has a M.Ed. degree in Counseling and Special Education. She coordinates accommodations for students with physical, mental, or learning disabilities and oversees the disabilities technology lab in the Advising and Counseling Center. Her specialties include learning, grief counseling, the entering non-traditional adult student, and advising students with and without disabilities.

 

Harold K. Tso, Counselor/Academic Advisor, M.A., L.P.C.C., # 0105611
Harold holds a B.S. in Social Work from Brigham Young University and a M.A. in Counseling from the University of New Mexico. He is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in New Mexico. His specific interests include chemical dependency aftercare, anxiety, stress, individual, and relationship counseling. He is a level II EMDR therapist, Clinical Hypnotherapist, Alternate Chief GED Examiner, and mediator.

Taylor Haskell, Counselor/Academic Advisor, M.A., L.P.C.C. #0095111
Taylor is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and holds a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Antioch University Seattle. As a Mental Health Counselor, his focus is on helping students work through the multitude of life issues they face as they go through their college careers. Relationships, family concerns, anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress are some of the issues with which he is experienced. As an Academic Advisor he thoroughly enjoys working with students on their college and career choices.

Krista Rainwater, Counselor/Academic Advisor, MA, L.P.C.C., #0102471
Krista has a M. A. degree in counseling from Oakland University.  She is a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with New Mexico.  Her specific interests are relationship issues, depression, stress and interpersonal issues.  Krista has also taught Psychology at SJC as an adjunct instructor since the fall of 2007.

 

Deb Krichels, Academic Advisor, M.A. 
Deb holds a B.A. in History from the University of Wisconsin and a M.A. in History from the University of Maine.  She recently returned from Honduras where she served in the Peace Corps.  Deb also teaches history as an adjunct instructor.  She loves working with students of all ages to help them make good decisions about their college careers.

Stacey Bradley, Academic Advisor, B.A. 
Stacey has a B.A. degree in Sociology, with an emphasis in Family Relations and Early Childhood Education, from the University of Montana.  She also holds a Family Development Specialist Certificate from the University of Iowa School of Social Work and the National Resource Center on Family Based Services.  Stacey particularly enjoys working with first generation college students.

Susan Grimes, Academic Advisor, B.A. 
Susan is a graduate of San Juan College and holds a B.A. degree in Humanities with a minor in Business Administration from Fort Lewis College.  She is currently working on a M.A. degree in Education through New Mexico State University.  She enjoys working with all San Juan College students as they journey through higher education.

 

Carolyn Fugate, Administrative Assistant, B.S.
Carolyn holds a B.S. degree in Biology from Fort Lewis College.  She also holds a Teaching Certificate from Cal State University in Fullerton.  She has worked in the education field at the middle school and high school levels.  Carolyn has over 15 years in office experience.  She coordinates the front office activities and assists with Accuplacer testing.

Lilly Douglass, Administrative Assistant, A.A.
Lilly is a graduate of Farmington High School and San Juan College.  In 2005, she earned an Associate of Arts degree with a concentration in English.  Lilly has nine combined years of office work experience. Lilly enjoys greeting and assisting students at San Juan College. She helps administer the college placement test (Accuplacer) and assists in other office operations.

Chainey Walker, Instructional Associate for Disability Services
Chainey assists student with disability services.  She schedules testing in the Disability Services lab for students who test separately from the class, and oversees the Disabilities Services computer lab.  She also helps administer the college placement test (Accuplacer) and assists in other office operations.  Chainey is also currently a student at San Juan College working on her Associate of Arts degree in Psychology.
