High School Student Enrollment options

Are you a high school junior or senior interested in taking college classes? If so, you may be eligible to take courses at San Juan College under the early admission program or dual credit program. Each program is described below.

Early Admission Program (EA)

Early admission is for high school juniors or seniors who are currently enrolled in high school at least half time and have established residency within the four corners and who wish to take college classes while they are still in high school. College classes taken under early admission count only for college credits and will not count toward high school credits. Early admit students are admitted as non-degree seeking and are therefore limited to no more than 7 credits per semester. Non-degree admission status students ARE NOT eligible for any financial aid.

Dual Credit Program (DC)

SJC’s dual credit program provides an opportunity for high school students, whose school district has an agreement with SJC, to have an early glimpse of college life and to accrue college credits while still in high school. Dual Credit courses are taught either at the high school, San Juan College, or online. High school elective credit is earned simultaneously with college credit when each course is completed satisfactorily. Students receive 1 full high school elective credit for every 3 to 4 credit hour SJC course. Students must meet with their high school counselor and parent/legal guardian about enrolling in dual credit courses before enrolling in dual credit courses.

ATTENTION: All High School students (whether Dual Credit or Early Admit) are required to follow posted deadlines for application submission, Accuplacer completion, course registration (including late start classes, adding, dropping, and complete withdrawals) and payment. Please refer to the current schedule of classes for deadlines.
