CULTURAL IMMERSION PROGRAM
The SJC Pathways Cultural Immersion program will be offered August 11-14, 2009, with three additional days held during the fall semester. This program will provide Faculty and Staff members with a greater understanding of Native American Cultures. Among many other exciting activities, participants will:

  • Experience a day in a Navajo community
  • Learn to prepare and taste a traditional meal
  • Discover medicinal use of native plants
  • Visit a small clinic serving Navajo patients
  • Experience a day in a Ute community
  • Visit a health facility serving Ute people
  • Gain knowledge of traditional healing practices

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?
Due to grant restrictions, during this first immersion program participation will be limited to 20 full-time faculty and/or instructional professionals from the Schools of Science, Mathematics and Health Science. Small stipends and CEU credits will be provided to participants. Future immersion programs will be made available to other faculty and staff members.
