Duties & Responsibilities:

This position reports to the Coordinator of the Cosmetology Program and is responsible for preparing students in accordance with the NM Cosmetology licensure. Responsibilities include teaching all aspects of the cosmetology industry including routines, health/safety aspects, ethics and business practices. Additional responsibilities include recruitment of students, development and revision of curriculum based on needs of local industry and additional cosmetology specialties, as well as job placement of cosmetology graduates within the community. Position will also work directly with a Cosmetology Advisory Board in regards to curriculum and student recruitment.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of three years of full-time practice as a licensed Cosmetologist and a licensed Instructor of Cosmetology required. Associates or Bachelors Degree preferred. Additional qualifications include two years teaching experience and computer skills including Microsoft Office applications. Candidate should value diversity and have a multicultural perspective with adult/minority students and be highly motivated along with a strong commitment to the community college philosophy. Physical Requirements: Extended periods of standing. Working around chemicals associated with the industry.
