San Juan College Music Department offers affordable, quality music education to students. Students are given the opportunity to explore new interests or cultivate their skill to the next level. A variety of courses including music history and appreciation, reading and writing music, performance and private vocal or instrumental lessons are offered to students both on campus and online.

Music scholarship funding is available by completing a San Juan College Foundation Application.

San Juan College offers ensemble performance opportunities in both vocal and instrumental music. We encourage students of all levels of ability, campus wide, to participate. Most ensembles do not require an audition. Students may also participate in Concert Choir, Orchestra, Symphonic Band and Jazz Band or audition for San Juan College’s very own Company Ensemble.

Goal and Mission

The SJC Music Department offers an imaginative, educational environment that prepares students to transfer to a four-year institutions as music majors or minors.  Students of all levels of ability campus wide are encouraged to participate. Music course work focuses on developing the skills necessary to be a well-rounded musician in today’s world. Our curriculum includes development in music theory, piano, applied instrumental and vocal performance, music appreciation, music across cultures, music history, and the history of rock and roll.  We offer online classes in Introduction to Music, Music History, Music across Cultures, and Fundamentals of Music.
