San Juan College will host a Spring Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Fiesta Wednesday, March 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Henderson Fine Arts Room 9012, on the Farmington campus. At the FAFSA Fiesta new students, current students and anyone considering college will be able to fill out their FAFSA with the assistance of the San Juan College Financial Aid Department staff.
Degree-seeking students who fill out a FAFSA at the event will be eligible to win a scholarship to San Juan College from the San Juan College Foundation. Two winners will be chosen for either a $250 scholarship for part-time students or a $500 scholarship for full-time students. The scholarship must be used in the fall 2019 semester. Students must be degree-seeking with a minimum 2.0 GPA. The scholarship is non-transferable.
The 2019-20 FAFSA includes fall 2019, spring 2020 and summer 2020 using 2017 tax information.
The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) determines a student’s eligibility for federal financial aid, which can be awarded in grants, scholarships, work-study and educational loans. Grants, scholarships and work-study awards are considered investment dollars toward a student’s education and do not have to be paid back unless a student withdraws or fails courses.
At the FAFSA Fiesta, computers will be available for students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Staff will be on hand to answer any questions and assist with the application. Once the FAFSA is completed, students will get immediate results and the information will become available to the schools that were listed.
Free popcorn, free drinks, giveaways and door prizes will be at the FAFSA Fiesta as well.
