The Fundamental Skills courses provide basic workplace skills needed for entry-level positions. Students learn First Aid/CPR, communication skills, business computer skills, basic health care skills, medical terminology, and an introduction to disease, injury, and medications. Successful completion of core courses may be considered in the health science program application process. Skills attained may be used in health science careers or for personal interest.

The requirements for the Fundamental Skills in Health Careers Certificate can be completed in as little as two semesters for the full-time student and three semesters for the part-time student.  Differing employers may choose to rate job candidates who have these healthcare certificates more favorably and may also pay a greater hourly rate.
