Physical Therapist Assistant
Welcome to the Physical Therapist Assistant Programs at San Juan College
Are you interested in being an integral part of a healing team? As a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), working under the supervision of a physical therapist (PT), you will help patients recover from injury, illness or surgery. As a Physical Therapist Assistant student you will learn to instruct patients in therapeutic exercise; assist patients with the use of equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, canes and crutches; and manage pain through a variety of treatments including massage, ultrasound, electrotherapy, and hot or cold packs. Not only is this a truly rewarding career, but Physical Therapist Assistants are among the fastest growing professions in the nation.
San Juan College is pleased to offer two Physical Therapist Assistant Programs – a traditional face-to-face On-Campus Program and a convenient Online Hybrid Program. The Physical Therapist Assistant Online Hybrid Program has onsite labs in Farmington, NM once per semester for 5 consecutive semesters following acceptance into the program. Both programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) and lead to a Physical Therapist Assistant Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree.
Wages and information are based on national data and may vary based on your training, experience, and the market for the career in your area.
