MTM Solutions was born out of necessity when founder Keri Gonzalez created the iCare Emergency Medical Response Card System.
Innovative Beginnings: Solving a Personal Need
After her young daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, Gonzalez realized the importance of providing caregivers with clear instructions in case of an emergency. At the time, Gonzalez worked as a dispatch supervisor at San Juan County Communications Authority, where she knew that quick access to life-saving information could make all the difference.
From Personal Solution to Community Impact
What began as a solution for her daughter soon gained attention from businesses and organizations looking for similar emergency preparedness tools. Gonzalez adapted her idea, creating customized safety flip charts tailored to meet the unique needs of organizations across the country. Her innovative approach even reached schools in Chicago, setting the stage for her to turn her passion into a full-fledged business.
Launching MTM Solutions: A Focus on Underserved Communities
In 2017, with the help of the SJC Small Business Development Center, Gonzalez founded MTM (Manage the Moment) Solutions, a consulting firm dedicated to enhancing safety education and preparedness for underserved and Indigenous communities. As the business grew, Gonzalez sought a space that would allow her to focus on expansion and access valuable resources. That’s when she turned to the San Juan College Enterprise Center, a business incubator that supports entrepreneurs. Establishing an office at the Quality Center for Business gave MTM Solutions the foundation it needed to thrive.
A Growing Team and Expanding Reach
By 2019, Gonzalez left her dispatch position to fully dedicate herself to growing MTM Solutions. She brought on a business partner, Sandra Davison, a 30-year veteran of emergency communications, and two additional team members. MTM Solutions has since worked with underserved communities and Indigenous police organizations across the U.S. and Canada, providing safety solutions and consulting services.
Partnering with the Navajo Nation: Rural Addressing and NextGen 911
MTM Solutions recently became a project management consultant for the Navajo Nation’s rural addressing and NextGen 911 project, a transformative initiative aimed at improving emergency response times. This project involves assigning standardized physical addresses to homes and businesses, while upgrading the 911 system to provide precise location data. MTM Solutions is leading the effort, coordinating contractors and securing experts to bring this project to life.
Partnering with San Juan College Small Business Development Center for Success
MTM Solutions owes much of its success to the support of the San Juan College Small Business Development Center. “The Small Business Development Center has supported MTM Solutions in all of our challenges and successes,” Gonzalez shares. "They've helped us lay the foundation to become a one-stop solution for digital public safety needs in underserved communities."
