San Juan College students made a remarkable showing at the 2024 SkillsUSA National Competition, held from June 23-27 in Atlanta, Georgia.

This prestigious event, known for gathering the nation's top vocational students, featured four outstanding participants from San Juan College, thanks to the generous sponsorship from the San Juan College Foundation.

San Juan College Foundation Supports Student Success

The San Juan College Foundation played a pivotal role in the success of these students by sponsoring their travel to the national competition. Additionally, three dedicated advisors from SJC’s Trades and Technology program accompanied the students, providing crucial support and guidance.

Exceptional Performance at the National Level

After excelling at the New Mexico state level, these students earned the opportunity to compete nationally. Brandon Drury showcased his skills in Automotive, John Parker demonstrated expertise in Diesel Technology, while Maurice Peshlakai and Lyle Billy competed in Auto Body. Each competition presented real-world challenges that required critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork—skills essential for success in Career and Technical Education.
