San Juan College is proud to announce the return of Give Kids a Smile Day, a national initiative dedicated to providing free dental care for children.
Free Dental Care for Children in San Juan County
The event, hosted in partnership with the SJC Dental Hygiene Program and the Northwest District Dental Society, will take place on Friday, February 7, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
What Is Give Kids a Smile Day?
Give Kids a Smile Day is a long-standing program aimed at improving children’s oral health by offering no-cost dental care. This year marks the 22nd year San Juan College has participated in this impactful initiative, ensuring children in our community have access to essential dental services.
Who Is Eligible for Free Dental Care?
The event is open to children ages 5 to 12 residing in San Juan County. Families from all economic backgrounds are encouraged to participate.
Services Provided at Give Kids a Smile Day
Local dentists, their staff, and SJC dental hygiene students will provide a range of services, including:
- X-rays, cleanings, and fluoride treatments performed by SJC dental hygiene students.
- Oral exams and dental treatments conducted by licensed community dentists.
Additionally, orthodontists, endodontists, and oral surgeons have volunteered to offer pro-bono follow-up care for cases requiring specialized attention.
A Collaborative Community Effort
“Give Kids a Smile Day is a remarkable collaboration between local dentists, hygienists, students, and the wider community,” said Dr. Julius Manz, director of the SJC Dental Hygiene Program. “With support from area schools, Subway, and many others, this event highlights the power of community in giving back to children in need.”
This special day is part of a national program sponsored by the American Dental Association (ADA) and locally supported by the Northwest District Dental Society.
How to Schedule an Appointment
Appointments are required, and a parent or guardian must accompany the child to the event. Walk-ins will not be accommodated.
