High school students attending a public, private, or home school can take college classes and start working on a certificate or degree.
Dual Credit classes earn high school and college credit.
High schools determine how college classes work toward high school graduation requirements.

Dual Credit Admission Requirements:
- Be at least 14 years old on the first day of classes
- Have successfully completed at least one semester of high school courses
Steps to Apply

High school students must complete steps 1 and 2 below.
Take the first step, apply to SJC today!
When you create your Admissions account with SJC, you will select one of the following:
- Dual Credit – If you are a current New Mexico high school student
- Early Admit – If you are a current high school student who lives in another state
Complete the High School Admission to San Juan College form.
This form requires the electronic signature of the student, parent, and high school counselor. The high school counselor or home school educator will attach a high school transcript.

Homeschool and Southwest Colorado Students:
If you attend a school district that is not listed above and are interested in taking classes at San Juan College, please email the Dual Credit Coordinator for more information.
Costs
Tuition and general fees are waived for New Mexico residents.
Course or program fees are paid by a participating school district or by the student.
Check with your high school counselor or the SJC Dual Credit Coordinator.
Textbook costs vary by school district. Please ask your high school counselor for more information.
Early Admit students from Southwest Colorado high schools are charged New Mexico resident tuition. Check with your high school counselor to confirm your school district will pay the tuition.
General fees are waived.
Students are responsible for purchasing their own textbooks and course/program fees.

Homeschool students who are NOT New Mexico residents, please contact SJC Dual Credit Coordinator for more information.

Registering for Courses
After being admitted to San Juan College, students can register through their high school representatives or at the Registration and Records office. Students must meet all pre-requisite requirements to register for courses. Students are responsible for following SJC’s Academic Calendar and knowing all important dates and deadlines. These include start and end dates of the semester, add/drop dates and the date to withdraw from all courses with a “W’ on college transcript.
